Singapore Mobile Number range allocation
For those who are interested, the mobile number range allocation in Singapore is maintained by IDA, the current range allocation table can be downloaded
HERE.
This table should be obsolete once true mobile number portability is implemented in Singapore
How does this table work? Carry on reading…
Each number block that you see in the document consists of 5 digits.
With Singapore mobile phone numbers consisting of 9 digits, this will mean that each of these number blocks can theoretically contain 10,000 mobile numbers. (example: 92220000 to 92229999)
Each mobile operator in Singapore (SingTel, MobileOne, Starhub) is allocated their share of number blocks for their assignment to each of their individual subscribers. When a mobile phone user makes a phone call to another mobile phone user, this number range mapping table is used to determine the correct routing to use to connect the call!
