Each SMS message consists of 160 characters as defined by the GSM specification. COMMZGATE supports smart messages which allows you to send multiple SMS parts as 1 long message, but each 153 characters will be considered as 1 message. (The remaining 7 characters are used as “technical data glue” to join each message part together.

Most mobile phones will be able to receive long messages of more than 160 characters, but for those rare old phones that do not, the lone message will still arrive but as multiple separate parts, until the entire message is received.
